Learn and Earn with Operations and Maintenance Apprentice Opportunities
Mennel’s Apprenticeship Program is ideal for high school or community college/tech school graduates who reside in or adjacent to the counties in which Mennel operates. The selected candidates will enter the program as summer help while completing the 90-day introductory period.
On-the-job training and job shadowing responsibilities are key benefits of the program. Apprentices work full time at an assigned Mennel facility gaining real-world, practical experience.
And the best part … Mennel pays the apprentice’s salary as well as schooling fees; however, the employee is required to pass all coursework with a letter grade of “C” or better.
Operations Apprenticeship: Candidates will spend the first year in core curriculum classes with a focus on electrical and fundamentals of leadership. Year two will include participation in one of two industry short courses.
Maintenance Apprenticeship: Candidates will spend the first year in core curriculum classes with a focus on electrical and fundamentals of the maintenance department. Year two will include advanced electrical and welding courses.Learn more
Learn and Earn with Internship Opportunities
Mennel’s Internship Program is conducted over a 90-day period at one of our many sites. Interns will be selected to participate as part of an application and interview process. A work schedule will be developed and tailored to meet your needs and interests, and includes diverse experience across all functions of the organization. You will not only observe work being done in those areas, but will complete the work themselves to ensure a “hands-on” experience. Our program will allow you to gain experience along with a better understanding of a possible career path within our company.Learn more
Learn and Earn with Our Milling Science and Management Scholarship
Our Milling Science and Management Scholarship award will allow for non-Kansas resident students to attend Kansas State University at the cost of in-state tuition. If awarded, the scholarship will cover the difference (an approximate $10,000 per year value.) In addition, the Mennel scholarship will provide for an additional $1,000 per year to cover student travel expenses.
To be eligible, the student must be enrolled full-time in Milling Science & Management – Operations curriculum at Kansas State University and live in an adjacent county to one of Mennel's operating facilities. Scholarship applicants must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA in high school and scored a 21 or higher on the ACT standardized test.
Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis up to a maximum of four years. The scholarship may renew for the next school year if the student remains in good academic standing while enrolled at Kansas State University.
