Mennel Acquires Flour Mill in Toledo, Ohio

October 31, 2025

The Mennel Milling Company has announced the acquisition of the Toledo Flour Mill from Mondelez International, Inc., strengthening its position as a trusted leader in the U.S. flour milling industry since 1886.

The acquisition supports Mennel’s broader supply chain needs while allowing the company to better serve both existing and new customers through enhanced flour production capacity of high-quality flour and grain-based products.

“We are proud to officially welcome the Toledo Flour Mill and its skilled workforce to the Mennel Milling family,” said D. Ford Mennel, President and CEO, The Mennel Milling Company. “This acquisition underscores our long-term commitment to investing in the products and services that allow our organization to strategically grow and meet the needs of our valued partners.”

The Toledo Flour Mill will continue to supply flour to Mondelez under Mennel’s ownership, while also expanding access to Mennel’s products across additional markets.

Like Mennel, the Toledo facility and its experienced team have been processing wheat into flour for more than a century. The mill sources high-quality wheat by truck, rail, and ship, and is equipped with advanced blending, testing, and grading systems. Today, the facility can produce up to 40,000 cwts – or 4 million pounds of soft wheat flour each day – including a variety of soft wheat flour products for customers across the region.

As one of the largest flour mills in the U.S., the Toledo Flour Mill has long been a vital part of the domestic flour milling industry and key player in local agriculture landscape as well. Mennel is committed to preserving the mill’s proud legacy while fostering future growth, stability, and operational excellence.
